Northstar Steel Fabricating operates two paint facilities to meet our customers' needs. We provide paint and powder coating solutions for all projects no matter the shape or size — from small precision components to large structural weldments.

Facility 1

Powder Coating

Process:HDLV (high-density powder, low-velocity)

Hoppers:Five fluidized hoppers

Powder Booth:10' × 10' × 12'

Curing Oven:8' × 8' × 20' (wet or powder)

Powder Types:Polyester, epoxy, and hybrid

Wet Spray

Processes:HVLP, airless, and compliant

Spray Booth:24' × 16' × 13' with 2-ton hoist

Coating Types:Epoxy, Polyurethane, Polysiloxane, Zinc (Inorganic/Organic)

Facility 2

Wet Spray

Processes:HVLP, airless, and compliant

Spray Booth:60' × 25' × 14'

Coating Types:Epoxy, Polyurethane, Polysiloxane, Zinc (Inorganic/Organic)

INSPECTION

Every coating application is verified to ensure adhesion, thickness, and finish quality meet specification requirements.

Adhesion Tape Test

ASTM D3359

Cross-cut tape test to evaluate the adhesion of coating films to substrates.

Portable Pull-Off Adhesion Test

ASTM D4541

Measures the force required to pull a coating free from its substrate — quantifies adhesion strength.

Dry Film Thickness (DFT)

Measures the cured coating thickness to verify compliance with specification requirements.
